Following on from Brian's "Nine Mile Burn Session" CD with Julian Arguelles, the duo will be touring for the first 2 weeks in February together (see tour dates). Brian is also set to feature at the Rochester Jazz Festival "Made in the UK" showcase in June and will release his next CD, on the Nine Mile Burn Session series in September supported by a tour of the UK. Brian recorded the material for this CD with his original trio of Kenny Ellis on bass and John Rae on drums in the summer of 2009.
Future plans include a duo recording with trumpeter Ryan Quigley and many festival engagements and guest appearances with the SNJO amongst others throughout 2010.

After a fantastic 2009 for Ryan Quigley where he won the Parliamentary Jazz Award for best Band and Scottish Jazz Award for best trumpeter, his star continues to rise into 2010.
With the success of his debut CD as a leader, "Laphroaig-ian Slip" he also won the Jazz Services Promoter's Choice award and has since toured the UK with his sextet to critical acclaim and much jaw dropping as well as whooping and screaming from audiences! Add to all that an award from the SAC's Creative Development scheme to allow him time out to write and arrange for his Sextet with Strings and it was indeed a great 2009!
In March he will be doing his own Tune Up Tour with the RQ Big Band featuring Del Amitre front man, Justin Currie (www.justincurrie.com). See tour dates. He will perform at this year's Glasgow Jazz Festival in a special project featuring big band. Visit www.jazzfest.co.uk to book and for more information.
Ryan has also been awarded an SAC recording grant for his next Sextet CD which he hopes to release this summer. Watch this space and order your advance copy here.
