“Jazz from Scotland”

Thick Skinned have produced a compilation promotional CD of “Jazz from Scotland” which we distributed to jazz industry trade at the IAJE conference, Toronto, Canada on 9-12 January 2008. The CD featured 18 tracks from leading, Scottish based jazz musicians. We also distributed to industry professionals at Showcase Scotland 2008. We are very grateful for the financial support given to us by the Scottish Arts Council.

Jazz Educators Conference

We recently invited to exhibit at the International Association of Jazz Educators Conference in Toronto, Canada, alongside the UK Jazz Showcase. We have been members of the IAJE for the past 5 years. This event is considered the biggest, most important gathering of jazz educators, agents, promoters and festivals in the world. We handed out information on our company together with our "Jazz from Scotland" demo CD. Watch this space for further developments as a result of our involvement. We are very grateful to the SAC's Youth Music Fund for their financial support.

Jazz Development in Holyrood

We are delighted to announce that we will run a jazz development pilot over 8-weeks in Holyrood, Portobello and Castlebrae high schools to include tuition in composition, performance and ensemble playing starting in February 2008. Our project will be lead by Trombonist Chris Greive and include many top, award winning jazz musicians who perform as well as teach. We are grateful to the SAC's YMI fund for their financial support.

RECORDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE - Rock and Pop

We have successfully created an exciting opportunity for young people to gain practical experience from music industry professionals specifically in pre and post production, arranging, recording and mixing. The project will start in February and include pop bands from 3 schools in Edinburgh. Watch this space for further details as the course progresses.
