Julian Arguelles/John Abercrombie Tune Up Tour Dates

We are pleased to announce the tour dates for the above tour. Julian Arguelles is arguably one of the best composers of his generation and recognised throughout the world. Guitarist John Abercrombie is an ECM legend. He hasn't been to Scotland in over 20 years despite his Scottish heritage.

John Rae Returns - AGAIN!
The prodigal returns to Scotland on the 6th June for a flying visit. Whilst here he will be delighting audiences with the "original" Brian Kellock Trio on 13 June at Hospitalfield in Arbroath and 18 June at The Lot, Edinburgh. The Brian Kellock Trio will also record a new CD, their first in 7 years, for release in the Autumn.
John Rae will start a new position 1 July as "Composer in Residence" at Wellington University, New Zealand. Watch this space for more information later in the year.

Ryan Quigley receives Scottish Arts Council Funding
An award from the Scottish Arts Council's Creative Development fund, will allow Ryan some much needed time out to write and arrange new music for his sextet with Strings. This is something Ryan has wanted to do for many years and now he can. Watch out for a spectacular gig at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival with Justin Currie (from Del Amitre) on 27 June (www.jazzfest.co.uk). Keep an eye on this site for news on Ryan. YMI Funding for Demo Pilot

Thick-Skinned are delighted to announce that we have been awarded YMI funds from the Scottish Arts Council to creating an exciting opportunity for 3 young bands from Midlothian to produce, record and market their own demos at The Sound Café in Penicuik. Watch this space for regular updates.
